Tunic

As I was editing these pictures I realized why I liked this dress from H&M so much. The simple structured tunic shape, when belted, looks sort of futuristic and a bit ‘star trek’ chic. I liked the dress without the belt too, and will have to style it that way for a future blog post – note to self.

I kept accessories simple with my BCBG wedges and a few layered bracelets and dainty necklaces. In the summer, this is probably the easiest way for me to keep cool and still look put together.

People often complain to me about various things and then remark on how I seem to be really laid back as if nothing bothers me, ever. (It is a trait that sometimes backfires because people might view me as a pushover and feel they can get away with treating me rudely. I don’t really do anything to prove them otherwise, like tell them off or anything, simply out of principle – and because I’m a big believer in Karma.)

Besides growing up with four other siblings, which in itself will humble even the brattiest of all kids, I think my professional life in sales has really helped keep me from ever getting too high or low on any one thing. In sales you can never really ‘make it’ and get comfortable- it’s more like a constant ‘what have you done for me lately?’ So inevitably you learn life isn’t about getting to the proverbial other side, but it is in fact, as my girl Miley puts it, the climb.

Don’t get me wrong, I can get really happy and excited, and often am – especially when doing stuff with my boys, my girls, or my blog – but I truly believe that it is a waste of time to stress out or get upset about things you have no control over. Just remind yourself of all the blessings you do have in your life and maybe even think about people who don’t have what you do, and that might just cheer you up.

Didn’t think you were going to get a lecture today, did you?

Well, I like to mix it up here once in a while!

I’m going to be wrapped up in some Fourth of July fun for the next few days so I will be announcing the Capwell + Co. jewelry giveaway winner on Monday! That gives you more time to enter if you haven’t already. Good luck!
