Today’s look is what I wore to a holiday soiree last week hosted by the Ill Muslims. After an unusually busy day, I was so ready to get out of the house, and I left the hubs to watch the little one and headed to my old ‘hood in Chicago, where the Jackson Junge gallery is located. I even felt a few pangs of nostalgia as I circled the blocks for parking that night.
Besides loading up on sugar – there was a dessert table, hot chocolate bar, and a smore’s station (!) and drinking specialty mocktails served up by Food Blogger and Mixologist Abeer of AbeerNajjar.com, we enjoyed music by dj Bornswift, who also showcased goods from Convey, a specialty clothing company dedicated to supporting charitable causes. I also got to catch up with some old friends, like my fellow California girl and Food and Style blogger Anam of the blog The Style Menu, and I met some new friends like Photographer and Beauty Blogger Irene of IreneSarah.com. All of their blogs are amazing and I highly recommend checking them out!
I knew I wanted to be comfortable, but I still wanted a bit of glitter and glamour, since this was a holiday party after all. I picked up this bomber jacket that has some metallic threads adding some sparkle to it, from H&M recently (on major sale), and paired with my go-to AG jeans and my favorite glitter pumps. The statement necklace and bag were the final touches to make me feel “fancy”.
I think this might be a fun look for a casual New Year’s event – which is exactly what we plan to do since we decided not to make any real plans. I fly out to California with the babe the next day so I wanted to be 100% on my game – traveling with a toddler is no easy task!
What are you doing to celebrate the New Year?
