Wide Leg Pants + Pale Pastels

Spring has sprung! Ok maybe not in Chicago quite yet. Always dress for the season you want – isn’t that how the saying goes? 😉

But we are talking about Spring style today because honestly, I’m so over winter wear. So let’s just pretend for a moment that my hands and feet aren’t turning blue in this photo, and instead discuss this pretty pastel look I’m serving you ~

Today’s post is in partnership with Ann Taylor, and I’m especially loving the wide leg fit of the Marina pants which would also be a great work pant (and comes in black and white too). One thing I love is these pants hold their shape without getting too many annoying front creases from sitting. Style tip: When you have a wide-leg pant, keep the top a little more streamlined for a balanced look. A long jacket or a pointed toe shoe also does the trick.

My knit top (on sale now 50% off!) has a cute ruffle detail, and if you are a regular reader here you *know* i love a good ruffle.

Yellow is one of my favorite colors of all time, and right now it is also really having a moment – in everything from clothes to eyeshadow, nail polish, and even lipstick. I love wearing pastel colors but sometimes they can come off as too childish. Wearing them head to toe in a tonal palette, however, makes them look decidedly grown up.

In other news, we spent the past few weeks with family, first my mom was visiting, then Tom’s parents. Its been such a change having so many people around, since Tom and I aren’t actually very ‘social’. That may surprise some of you, but in reality besides being active on Social Media, I am pretty introverted and only have a teeny tiny group of friends. Seeing our family interact with Sophia and Adam was really fun, they just love them so much. Adam would wake up early and head over to their room and hop into bed and talk to them, and Sophia was getting extra spoiled being held all day long. Even Briggs, our dog, had so many more walks than usual. This Sunday is the first I’m staying in without anything pressing to do. I started reading a new book, worked on this blog post, took a bath, tried a new face mask, and ate lots of buttered french bread – a Sunday well spent indeed!
