I met the beautiful Aisha through the blogging world and for obvious reasons I am now obsessed with her style and her blog Bold Minimalist. Aisha is taking over LoveZahra today to share her tips on shopping vintage, which can be a scary idea for some people. Scroll down to see how she creates three looks out of one matching vintage outfit. Also check out her blog for more pictures and follow her!
INSPIRATION Vintage shopping is an adventure because you never know what you’re going to find, whether it’s clothing, jewelry, artwork, furniture, or even, simply, mason jars – which I actually just stocked up on! Some people shy away from vintage shopping, especially when it comes to second-hand clothes since you don’t know who wore it before. I actually find that part kind of exciting since there’s a story behind each amazing piece. Vintage finds make an outfit feel more unique versus ubiquitous clothing that anyone can get their hands on.
During my recent trip to the Randolph Street Market in Chicago, I stumbled across a beautiful Lanvin two piece outfit from the late 70’s. I gravitated towards the vibrant silk lamé; the mix of bold colors and metallic gold is a vibrant combo and truly unique. And the best part about this outfit, is that it can be worn three different ways, as seen in my pictures. I love the top and skirt together, but I also like having the option to wear just the skirt with a simple tank or the colorful top paired with shorts for a more casual look. I enjoy mixing vintage clothes with new pieces to add more character to an outfit. With vintage shopping, I recommend not having an agenda or an ultimate goal to find one particular item – just have fun with it! And more often than not, you’ll end up finding a hidden gem that you will have forever.
