Winter Work Wear

Today’s look is what I wore to work today, except for the fact that I actually wore my snow boots to work and slipped on these while at my desk. It has been so cold in the office lately there have been days where I didn’t take off my boots or coat the whole day. I’m not even talking about my Hunter’s when I say snow boots, I mean my snow boots I wear when I go skiing or snowmobiling. Today’s weather warmed up to like the 20’s so I was feeling adventurous and took a few pictures of my outfit over lunch.
I never plan out my work outfits ahead of time because I think it is fun to pull together different pieces and create a new outfit every day. I’m usually in a big rush in the morning so I like to buy a lot of separates that can be mixed and matched. Today I knew I wanted to be really warm so I layered this cream cashmere turtleneck with a longer grey wool cardigan, then to balance out the bulk on top, I paired these ankle length printed trousers with a heeled loafer. Since I had black, white, cream, and grey in my color palette, I added a neutral army green oversized coat and a pop of color with the emerald with my heels.

On a side note, all of my gloves are now fingerless or tech friendly like the ones I’m wearing, a sign of the times I guess – or my obsession with social media perhaps. These Isotoners I’m wearing are from Target, and they are much warmer than the knit ones, I highly recommend them.

On another side note, we are currently binge watching The Wire and I am obsessed. I caught myself saying how Breaking Bad is the best show ever, except for maybe The Wire – and I recall that was a line in a Family Guy episode…somehow it irks me that a Family Guy stereotype applies to me. Sigh, oh well…like they say, it’s funny because it’s true!

There are some trees with seeds that only grow after a fire. Their seeds are completely sealed with a resin that have to be physically melted off by a great fire in order to propagate. So to do we as humans, gain wisdom only after great pain and suffering.*
A month ago (and one day) I lost my sister and best friend to cancer. I am still completely gutted and broken. But, I’m also so so grateful to have had felt the love that now brings me so much heartbreak. ❤️ I am so inspired by her - and I will forever live my life to honor her memory. Miss you sis ❤️

Cozy for a coffee date ☕️
French. Toast. Egg. Bake. Save this recipe for a weekend or holiday brunch - it’s SO good and fool-proof! I’m not even a sweet person and I love it. The pecans are a non-negotiable IMO - I get honey bourbon vanilla pecans for this and it is just heavenly. Enjoy!

Peak Autumn beauty 🍂 These two pictures were taken only 10 days apart ~ look how much the color has changed! I love to go for a walk and admire all the gorgeous foliage - so much fun. This side of my house is officially my favorite: a mix of shrubs including hydrangea, blue spruce, beautyberry, euonymus, pine, boxwood, burning bush, viburnum, smokebush, and you can even see the Japanese maple peeking out from the backyard 🍂#fallfoliage #autumn
