I will be announcing the winner of the Ann Taylor giveaway later today, please stay tuned!
The biggest trend among fashion designers lately has been to collaborate with retailers on a more accessibly priced line of clothing. It is a genius way for designers to reach the very excited and grateful masses, and at the same time, sell a ton of merchandise. However, I’ve noticed the pieces are often very cheaply made and the design is usually something very recognizable, thus taking away the desire (at least for me) to even own the thing. Now if I could just desire what it is that I could actually afford, then I’d find true happiness – but until then, I’ll keep drooling over luxury.
That being said, there hasn’t been a collaboration I’ve been more excited about than the upcoming Kate Moss + Topshop collection, set to release 4/30 – at Topshop stores, and through retail partners such as Net-a-Porter and Nordstrom.
Kate, who is now also a Fashion Editor at British Vogue, is said to have had created this collection on pieces from her own wardrobe, including one white tunic that is based on a vintage find she wears every summer. I love knowing that she was so involved in the process of design and material selection, and not just added on as a face to sell the merchandise. It makes me feel like I’m actually getting to know Kate a little bit if I wear some of the clothes, but not in a creepy way or anything. I just love her, okay??
The stuff isn’t cheap, but isn’t ridiculously expensive either.
Here are a few of my favorite pieces from the collection – the first one is on my Mother’s day wish list for sure! How amazing would that look over a dress or leather pants??
