When in New York…wearing all black is an easy choice, seeing as how the locals are known for wearing it year round. I’m sure it is partially due to the fact that any other color will get dingy after a day of walking around in the city, taking cabs and riding subway trains. Wearing all black is sophisticated, simple, and a little edgy, all things I like. I did sneak in a tiny bit of color with the accessories, but that doesn’t count, right?
I wore this outfit to the Mode Media (formerly Glam Media) dinner party that was held at Beautique – remember when Mode Media visited Chicago? I wrote about that party here, and I joined them very soon after. Coincidentally I am wearing the same shirt to both events…whoops!
What I love about this look is the fact that it is all black but it is anything but basic. The skirt has this amazing wrap around look to it, and this jacket by Zadig & Voltaire has a frayed edge and textured fabric. The heat made it impossible for me to wear the jacket so I did what any self-respecting blogger would do and draped it over my shoulders. The show stopper to this look was definitely these Stuart Weitzman heels (that are now 50% off) that I patiently waited to debut at Fashion Week – and trust me it was not an easy feat for an instant gratification seeker like me!
I also had my hair done by a Tressemme stylist in their booth at Lincoln Center, and I think I am going to try this style again at home. All you need to do is make one side really big and voluminous, with big curls and teasing, and braid the other side so that you always have one controlled side.
Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

The night was perfect, I got to meet so many bloggers I was already following on instagram – it is always a little weird when you meet someone who you follow because you feel like you guys are already friends but they have no idea who you are. Lucky for me, they were all incredibly sweet and we got along great in real life too. Here’s a few of us in the Photo Booth (reposted from Le City Kitty because I can’t figure out how to get the embed code myself…)
