First off, I’m hosting an event tomorrow at the Chicago Premium Outlets in Aurora along with a few of my favorite bloggers, and would love it if you could join us! The event is a day of fun in honor of moms, there will be entertainment, free gifts, style segments, and a fashion presentation. I will be sharing five cool ways to rock a scarf, and trust me they only look complicated. Other topics include, Quick and Easy Hair Styles, How TO DIY a tulle skirt, How To Add Edge To Your Style, and Easy Ways To Add Color To Your Wardrobe.
Ride free from Chicago using the shuttle code LoveZahra ($20 value) Advanced reservations are required, and can be made by calling (312)226-5466 or online via the Chicago Premium Outlets web site (link under Directions & Transportation/By Bus). The shuttle departs Union Station (southeast corner of Union and Canal) at 10 a.m., and leaves the center for its return trip to the city at 4 p.m. Hope to see you there!
On to today’s look – A few days ago I went to my first Kentucky Derby party, and it was so much fun. I had never been to one before, growing up in Northern California it wasn’t really a ‘thing’, but I obviously knew they existed and secretly, I always want to dress up like a Southern belle and just be fancy.
I searched high and low for a dress to compliment my big pink hat I bought, and I fell in love immediately with this white ruched tank dress. It is body-con but the tank straps keep it looking modern, and the ruching makes it okay to ditch the spanx – which is a good thing because it felt like a summer day in Chicago, with temps hitting the mid 80’s. My favorite kind of day!
I will definitely wear this dress over and over throughout the summer with flat sandals and a denim jacket or a blazer.
My bouquet was a gift from Flowers for Dreams, but it coordinated so well with this outfit I had to use it as an accessory. Flowers for Dreams is an awesome new shop where 1/4 of the net profit of each sale goes to charity – plus they do other cool stuff like have ‘free flower Friday’ and are just generally do-gooders, which I promote wholeheartedly. With Mother’s Day around the corner, this might be the perfect gift! If you think flowers are one of the few ways to express your gratitude to your mother, you could get some for your mama too, be it from your local florist or from sites delivering to places like Cairnlea, Australia (if your mom lives there that is)!
