Red, White, and Blue

This weekend was pretty incredible considering we are finally, as a country, recognizing the universal right to love. Regardless of your religious beliefs, some basic human rights should just always be allowed. It couldn’t have come at a more perfect time, with Independence Day around the corner. This year I’ll be celebrating just a little bit more!

I was thinking of decorating our home a bit, especially on the outside. I might put up a wreath showcasing the flag’s colors, or maybe get a house mount flagpole (from a website like https://flagpolesetc.com/flagpoles/sectional-house-mount-flagpoles) to hoist the flag and showcase our pride a little bit. After all, that feeling when you see the flag waving in the wind; it’s an indescribable feeling. Although I don’t want to take it overboard, as we’re not going to be celebrating this Independence Day at home anyway! But still, the 4th of July always calls for a little extra display of patriotism.

Another slightly less monumental event also occurred this weekend, we adopted a kitten! It started as it always does, with an innocent hypothetical conversation about the possibility of having one. Then a quick trip to the pet shop ensued, where they happened to be having a special adoption day with multiple shelters bringing kittens in. Adam immediately fell in love with one tortoise kitten named Seema (which he later changed to Sheema), and we couldn’t resist her either. Since then, we have been amazed at how calm and gentle our rambunctious 4-year-old has been when he is around his new pet. He spent the entire weekend holding her in a blanket on the couch, I even caught him sneaking little kisses on her head – talk about a cuteness overload!

Today’s look is perfect for wearing for a casual 4th of July celebration. These shoes are my new favorites by Everlane, one of the brands I listed on the ethical companies list, they have some amazing pieces and they are so reasonably priced – I highly recommend!

This year we plan to spend the weekend in Wisconsin at our family cabin, per Sandberg family tradition. It is so much fun to spend time with the family outside in nature, fishing, having bonfires, and especially going out on the boat to watch the fireworks over the lake. For a few days we take a break from technology (for the most part) and just enjoy hanging around with eachother. Wishing you all a safe and happy 4th!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week xx
