Sailor Pants and Stripes

As I am continuously trying to expand my wardrobe to include more pants that aren’t skinny jeans, yet still equally cute, I found these adorable sailor style cropped trousers recently at Nordstrom (and now they are 40% off!). These are great for work paired with a blouse tucked in, and for weekend with a tee or a cami. I chose to wear with a classic striped tee in a 90’s crew neck fit, to make it look a smidgen more modern. (Side note: I’ve always said ‘smidge’ instead of ‘smidgen’ – thank you spellcheck, I stand corrected.)

Lots of things to be happy about today, it is Fri-yay, Earth Day, and it is another beautiful sunny day here in Chicago. Lately I’ve been on a real gratefulness kick, and today is no exception. I’m waking up happy and constantly commenting on how nice something or the other is. I even caught myself before texting a semi-snarky (okay it was snarky) comment to a friend that was about another person. I finally realized it may be a result of starting to journal a few months back, and by journal I mean all I do is write down a sentence or two about something that happened that stuck out to me during the day. The funny thing that happened is after I write down stuff, good or bad, the good stuff sticks with me, and the bad stuff seems a little trivial, as it tends to do in retrospect. Such a simple thing to do with great results, you may want to give it a try if you aren’t already!
