When I first received the invite to attend a preview party for Tiffany’s new ‘HardWear’ jewelry line, my first thought was that I’d be way too tired to drive all the way in to the city for an evening event. Honestly, since Sophia’s birth I haven’t really ventured out of the house too often. I considered declining and therefore maintaining my slightly embarrassing 8:30 p.m. bedtime routine, but after some consideration, my desire to see this very much talked about collection up close and personal outweighed my concerns. So I forced myself to go, despite feeling and looking *extra* tired that day.
For those unaware, this collection first launched with a bang during the Superbowl, with an entire 60 second commercial featuring Lady Gaga. The ‘It girl’ factor only continued with major celebs seen wearing the line, including Zoe Kravitz, FKATwigs, Kate Mara, Olivia Wilde, and ScarJo…just to name a few. Chicago’s event was hosted by the fabulous Shalice Noel, a fellow blogger babe and the consummate fashion cool girl.
Overall it’s definitely a departure from the more traditional styles normally associated with the brand. It seems like HardWear is the continuation of Design Director Francesca Amfitheatrof transitioning the brand from classic to modern. Note: This was her last collection before leaving the company, which will now have Designer Reed Krakoff heading the chief artistic officer role.
To me, the pieces are still every bit timeless and elegant as traditional Tiffany & Co, but with a bit of contemporary appeal. I’m certain that it is meant to woo a younger crowd, with pieces like chunky unisex stackable bracelets, statement earrings, and cocktail rings with gold sphere shaped charms. Models were styled with a minimalist flare, including a straight leg crop denim with crisp white button down shirt, and an elegant all black wide leg pant and off shoulder top.
Ultimately the collection is wearable for any generation of jewelry enthusiast, and in case my husband is reading this, I personally would be absolutely thrilled to own any of it. 😉
My first foray back in to the blogging world definitely did not disappoint. The cocktail party was fun, I got to catch up with friends and industry peeps, aaaand someone even told me that I didn’t look tired at all – which probably the best compliment you can give a new mom!
